This policy explains what personal information we collect on ownyourplatform.co, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what control you have over it. We keep it plain so you can read it in a few minutes.
This site is operated by MacKay Professional Real Estate Corporation, a corporation incorporated in the Province of Ontario, Canada, which carries on business as Own Your Platform. In this policy, "we", "us", and "our" mean MacKay Professional Real Estate Corporation. "You" means anyone who visits this site or submits a form on it.
We are the party responsible for the personal information collected through this site. You can reach us at the address in the Contact section at the end of this policy.
Information you give us
We only collect what you type into a form. We do not buy contact lists and we do not scrape data about you from other sources.
- When you request the free report, we collect your first name, email address, team size, and monthly technology spend.
- When you book a platform audit, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and brokerage or team name.
- If you email us, we keep that message and your email address so we can reply.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting provider records standard server logs, which include IP addresses, browser type, and pages requested. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure.
We record the referring website or campaign source of a form submission so we know which of our own content brought you here.
We also keep our own first party count of page views. For each page view we record the page, the time, the referring site or campaign tags if there were any, your browser type, and a random identifier stored in your browser. This identifier is a random string, it is not your name or email, and it is never shared with anyone. We use these counts only to understand how the site is used.
We do not use advertising pixels or third party analytics on this site. No analytics data leaves our own systems.
You can opt out of these counts at any time. Load any page on this site with ?notrack=1 on the end of the address and that browser stops being counted. Adding ?track=1 turns it back on.
Cookies and local storage
This site does not set advertising cookies or third party analytics cookies.
The site stores a random visitor identifier in your browser's local storage for the first party page counts described above. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
On the audit and build pages, your name and email are stored temporarily in your own browser using local storage. This is only so the page can carry your details from the form to the payment step and back. It stays on your device and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
The booking calendar on the audit page is embedded from Google. Google may set its own cookies when that calendar loads. Their use of those cookies is governed by Google's privacy policy, not ours.
How we use your information
- To send you the report or resource you asked for.
- To contact you about your enquiry, your booking, or your audit.
- To send occasional emails with related material. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link.
- To understand which topics and sources bring people to the site.
- To meet our legal and accounting obligations.
We rely on your consent, which you give by submitting a form. You can withdraw it at any time using the contact details below.
Service providers we use
We use a small number of established providers to run the site. They may process your information only to provide their service to us.
- Netlify hosts the website.
- Supabase stores form submissions in a database.
- Google serves the web fonts and the appointment calendar embedded on the audit page.
- Stripe processes payments for paid services. Card details are entered on Stripe's own secure checkout. We never see or store your full card number.
- Resend may be used to deliver notification and follow up email.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share it with anyone else except where we are required to by law, or where it is necessary to protect our legal rights.
Where your information is stored
Our providers store data on servers located in the United States. If you are outside the United States, your information will be transferred there and handled under the laws of that country. Those laws may differ from the laws where you live, and information held there may be accessible to courts and government authorities under those laws. By submitting a form on this site you consent to that transfer.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry and client records for as long as we have a working relationship with you, and afterwards only for as long as we need them for legitimate business or legal reasons. If you ask us to delete your information and we are not required to keep it, we will delete it.
Security
Access to our database is restricted and protected by keys held only by us. The site is served over an encrypted connection. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Your choices and your rights
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete your information.
- Stop sending you email. You can also click unsubscribe in any email.
- Withdraw your consent to our use of your information.
Email us using the address below and we will respond within a reasonable time. We may need to confirm your identity first. If you are in Canada and you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
This site is meant for business owners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Other websites
This site links to other websites we do not control, including our payment and calendar providers. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. Read their policies before you give them information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change is significant, we will make that clear on this page.
